Androlis® Predator Mite - Natural Red Mite Control for Chickens
Androlis® Predator Mites provide a natural and environmentally friendly way to control red mite infestations in poultry housing. Containing the predatory mite Androlaelaps casalis, Androlis® offers a safe and effective method of reducing red mite populations by feeding on both red mites and their eggs.
Predator mites are not harmful to humans or chickens, making them an excellent biological alternative for managing red mites within your chicken coop.
Why Choose Androlis® Predator Mites?
Red mites are one of the most common external parasites affecting backyard chickens. Androlis® Predator Mites help red mite populations naturally without the use of chemical treatments.
These beneficial mites actively hunt red mites and their eggs, helping to lower infestations within the poultry house while remaining completely safe for your flock.
Key Benefits
- Natural biological control for red mites
- Contains predatory mites (Androlaelaps casalis)
- Environmentally friendly
- Safe for chickens and humans
- Predates both red mites and red mite eggs
- Easy to apply
- Helps to reduce red mite burdens within the poultry coop
- No egg withdrawal period
How Androlis® Works
The predatory mites use red mites and red mite eggs as their food source. Once introduced into the coop, they actively seek out resident red mites, helping to reduce their numbers naturally.
The container also includes a food source to sustain the predator mites while in transit, together with an attractant that encourages red mites to investigate, allowing the predator mites to begin feeding.
Easy to Apply
Apply the predator mites as soon as possible after they arrive.
You can either:
- Press the button on the top of the container to allow the mites to leave naturally while the container is attached to a perch
- Remove the lid and place small heaps of the substrate into areas where red mites are likely to hide, including nest boxes and the ends of perches
- Alternatively, combine both application methods
Before You Use Androlis®
Before introducing predator mites, it is important not to use chemical or powder mite treatments on either your chickens or the coop.
For best results, avoid using chemical mite treatments for 3-4 weeks before applying Androlis® Predator Mites.
