There is a 25% discount on the course cost for vet nurses, and attending the post-mortem session is optional.
Once you have completed the course, your vet practice can join our Associated Practice scheme – with additional benefits that include access to veterinary advise, discounted products and poultry medication.
Poultry vet Ben South, who delivers the Chicken Vet CPD course, advises the importance of small veterinary practices gaining knowledge on how to treat backyard poultry.
“Backyard poultry is estimated to be the third most popular pet in the UK and an increasing number form an integral part of family life. Chickens are prey animals and therefore conceal their symptoms, so can often appear severely ill when their owners bring them into practice. This course provides small animal practice vets with the confidence they need when chickens are presented – something that isn’t focussed on a great deal at university. It means that vets can also support owners by sharing some of the early signs and symptoms of common ailments, to look out for.”
